SPRING BREAK '08....

I love that we still go on spring break even though we're way past our college years! Of course, our itineraries are a bit different, but the fun times in the sun never change. This spring break was awesome, far better than most of the ones I had in college as a matter of fact. Being a part of the lovely private school system, Brian and I both get two weeks of in March instead of one in feb, and one in april. Unfortunately, we only overlap one of those weeks, but we consider ourselves lucky enough. The first week of my break, I flew down to Hilton Head, SC to work as an Athletic Trainer for a lax camp. I still can't believe i got paid to sit on the beach, read a book, shop, watch dolphins and look for gators! =) They flew me down on Sunday, I covered 4 games by tuesday, then wed and thurs I had to be on call for practices in case someone needed me. They didn't call me once. How great! It was quite different spending a "vacation" by myself, but very invigorating and totally relaxing. I didn't have to make sure what I wanted to do coincided with other peoples plans. I was on my own. Doing my thing. If I felt like riding a bike to the beach, I did. If I felt like sitting on the patio of the villa they provided me with, I did. If I felt like taking a nap, I DID! Don't get me wrong, I missed home, but that's not to say I won't be back there again next spring doing the same thing =) Hilton Head is a beautiful place, I highly recommend it! It's a short drive to Savannah, GA which is a really cool city. We went in one night for dinner and shopping. I was able to meet a lot of great people...network, network, network! They asked me back for next year, I really hope the timing works out again. We'll see! I got back on that friday, but our break was far from over. That weekend we went with Shannon and Dave to see Bon Jovi at the casino! UNBELIEVABLE. It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen, was there any doubt?? We stayed the night and had a great time. I'll post some pics my sister took when I get them from her. We had floor seats, and at one point he sang on a small stage about 100 feet from us, so great. Jon is looking a little old though I must say! The next day we had a big fam dinner, we needed a recovery day =) A couple days later Brian and I were off to Florida. It was an awesome trip! The timing of it couldn't have been more perfect. Brian's friend Dan was in Fort Lauderdale for work, my sisters' softball team was playing in miami, my parents were there, and we were able to see a few friends from college that were in the area as well. We stayed with Dan in his suite on A1A ave right on the beach in Ft Lauderdale. Awesome location. While he was working our first day there, we walked up and down the strip, drank giant margaritas the size of our heads, hung out on the beach for a few hours, grabbed some lunch, then met dan back at the hotel and headed to dinner. We ate at a yacht club and saw some unreal boats. Not sure how that many people in the world have THAT much money. The next day (i'm sure you weren't looking for a minute to minute update on what we did but i'm bored on duty so skip ahead if you'd like! :) ) we watched two of amanda's softball games then met some friends in Hollywood for dinner. We ate at a spanish place...sooo good! My friends knew the waiter so we didn't even have to order, they kept bringing us sangrias and a sample of every food on the menu. let me know if you're ever in the Ft Lauderdale area, I would highly recommend this place! That night we stayed with Shayne, a great friend of mine from college, and his girlfriend. We had a great timing catching up and taking a peak into their lifestyle down there. After breakfast the next day it was back to the field. My uncle lives down there as well and he was able to spend the weekend with us which was awesome. After the game we went to hollywood beach and found putsin! (sp?) it's a french food - french fries on top of a special kind of cheese, topped with a special sauce, pretty....special hehe. Who would have thought there would have been so many canadiens on the tip of florida! long way from home! that night we went to the bar Howl at the Moon (also HIGHLY recommended) with everyone, dan, our friends from SC, my parents and my uncle. that bar is so fun, it's a dueling piano bar. the people there are so talented, it blows our minds. We went to the one in San Antonio and have made a pact that we would get to every location at some point throughout our lives. Two down! The next day we went to yet another game, then just hung out...so relaxing. Lastly, my parents and amanda met us in ft. lauderdale for a great dinner, then we hung out by the water, had a couple drinks, and waited for the draw bridge to go up (sounds silly, but that draw bridge was fun to watch! even more fun were the unbelievable boats it went up for!) It was a packed, but fun and relaxing vacation!! No one can ever tell us we don't travel, thats for sure! So far this year we've been to SC, and FL, boston a few times, NYC, and still to come are NY, NC, Maine, St. Martin, VT, and possibly Cali...I'd say we've met our quota for 2008 =) ok I won't torture you any longer!!

These pics are from FL..in order: view of the sunset from our hotel, a storm rolling in, our friends from college, me and Uncle Al drink margaritas from a bucket, amanda pitching (did i mention it was a record 90 degrees when we were there?? made me hate new england weather even more!)

These pics are from Hilton Head...the first is the view from my patio, the second is of some of the gators I saw while riding my bike around the plantation (yikes!), the last is the dolphin I saw while I was at the beach, I was pretty close to it, it was so cool!! i wanted to jump in and swim with it, and I almost did!! I promise it's a dolphin and not a shark, i wish i video taped it
