Amazing Memorial Day Wknd

Amazing weather, great friends, good times...that pretty much sums up our memorial day weekend! I was in Jamie's (a college roommate) wedding down in NC so we packed up and left thursday night after work, we drove (well not so much WE, Brian did all of the driving) straight through arriving at 615AM. The bride and groom rented a house right on the beach for all of their friends to stay at for the weekend. This house was incredible. One night there were 25 or so of us staying there thats how big it was. 5 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and plenty of floor space :) What an amazing experience for everyone...hanging out, enjoying the weather and each others company...just what jamie and matt wanted. It was super relaxed. I guess it's hard to be stressed in a place like that. The ceremony took place about 20 yards down the beach from the house. What a great place to get married. The scenery was surreal. we all walked down the sandy aisle barefoot including the bride. Strangers on the beach turned their chairs around to watch and listen and little kids sat indian style about 5 feet behind us. The weather couldn't have been more perfect!!! It was short and very sweet (the grooms father performed the ceremony). I've never seen Jamie happier, in the words of my husband "she was giddy!". After pictures we got into a van and headed to an art gallery in Wilmington. Everything moved so smoothly...most brides can name something that went wrong the day of their wedding but I can't think of one thing Jamie could say! It took place outdoors on a patio and was very non traditional. They are the only ones that were announced, there was no cake cutting, no bouquet toss. And to be honest, if they did do all of that stuff, I don't think it would have flowed with the rest of the day. that girl knew what she was doing! Every table had a different kind of cake on it...after dinner servers came around and cut the cakes. We were encouraged to go around and sample different ones. It was such a great idea. we had plenty of dancing time, and we definitely took advantage! The day after we went out to breakfast with some old and new friends and then hung out on the beach until we started our drive back around 3. Thirteen hours later we were home and still haven't stopped talking about what an amazing weekend! How many people can say they were able to share a beautiful house on a beach with 20 friends for four days enjoying the sun and the sand, playing in the waves, cooking out, and enjoying a few beverages...better yet, how many people can describe that as their wedding weekend?? Truly amazing. Oohhh, another great moment...a bunch of us were playing around in the waves (did you know NC is known for surfing?? i didn't...), and we spotted some dolphins swimming not too far away...great end to a great weekend!! here are some pics...jealous???

Mother's Day!

A little late but I thought I'd write about our mothers day extravaganza! We a great day...wished I could have gone to church with my mom but the timing of the day didn't really allow that, but I went anyway in honor of all the mama's =) Then we headed to Harbor Park for brunch with my parents, my sisters, gram & gramp and memere...quite the crew! We had a great brunch, and it was cool to hang out on the riverfront after we ate. It was very relaxed..I hope to put some pics up soon. Then we went to pick up champ and headed to simsbury for part two. We had a nice time with brian's parents, his sister, his grandma, aunt and cousins. I'm still shocked that it all worked out the way it did...i think this was the first holiday we didn't have to leave somewhere early, or get somewhere late. Everything worked out perfectly and we got to spend a good amount of time with everyone! I think it's still a bit weird for the both of us, not being able to spend the whole day with our families. Not just mother's day but every holiday. I think we're adjusting well though...and our families are too! Marriage = Sacrifice and compromise right?? =) Hope everyone had a nice mothers day!

Nothing much to write about...

I realized it's been a while since I wrote an entry but I haven't had much to write about! We had a pretty good weekend for the most part. Had to cancel plans for friday night b/c I noticed I was on dorm duty, so that was a bummer. Then saturday we had a 3.5 hour faculty meeting in the AM then work in the PM. Then we went to a fundraiser for Brian's school at Mystic Aquarium. That was pretty cool...saw some beluga whales, sharks, you know...the normal stuff you see at aquariums. at one point though we looked around and though "we have no business being here!", that feeling was especially strong when they started the auction. We couldn't even afford what the offered as the starting bid. Just amazing how many people have money sitting there waiting to be spent on something. Granted it was for a great cause and all, however, it got a little ridiculous. I mean honestly, who bids $6700 on a sleepover at an aquarium. as cool as it would be for little kids I suppose...nto sure it's worth that chunk of change! After that we went out in Mystic to a karaoke bar with some of bri's coworkers, that was a great time. Although we were regretting it as we were driving 40 minutes back to his friends house to drop them off...then we had to drive another 45 minutes home, at 230AM. I'm not built for those late nights anymore! The next morning I volunteered at a walk for autism we were hosting on campus. they made over $100,000 which was great news, on the downside I served absolutely no purpose there. I was supposed to be in charge of the inflatables the kids were going to play in, but since it was rainy out, they didn't put it up right away...then when they did 2 hours later, they already had 4 people working it. So I gave my time which felt great, but I wish I could have been of more use! Oh well, next time. After that we went to see Meg who is 8 months pregnant. We had a great time with her, mark, lisa and kyle. It was so great to see meg and mark so excited about their upcoming addition to their fam. I wish I had pics to post but of course I forgot my camera. Needless to say, by sunday night, we were beat. But it's so worth it when you get to spend time with fam and/or friends! this weekend will be a weekend for the families I have a feeling...mothers day and all, so that should be fun. We actually have found a way to see all mothers, and grandmothers on one day. whoo hoo! there you have it...I told you I didn't have much exciting news =)
