colds and pregnancy don't mix

Well thanks to these boarding school kids and all of their germs, i'm now laying on the couch for the second day feeling like garbage! It's just a silly cold so I wasn't sure why I was feeling this crappy - then i looked up some things online and read how pregnancy decreases your immune system so that your body doesn't attack the foreign object in the body (that would be the baby) which makes pregnant women more susceptible to illness. So now it makes more sense to me why a little cold is kicking my butt, but it still stinks! Now the question is, do I just suck it up and go to work, meetings, and dorm duty, or is it something I have to take more caution with than I normally would? Questions, questions....

dizziness and nausea...

Not sure what's going on today but I woke up feeling so dizzy. I couldn't even get dressed without holding onto the wall just in case. I've been drinking a lot of water, and eating, and I just went to the doctor the other day and everything was fine. who knows. I'll blame it on lack of sleep and a crazy busy schedule - thank God today is that last day of that crap. just have to make it through our 9 o'clock meeting tonight and then tomorrow starts a normal schedule.
So the doctor's went well tuesday, heart rate was 134 which is what it was the very first time they checked it. It was in the 150s the last couple of times. Rumor is if it's higher than 150 it's a girl, lower it's a boy, we'll see! I am 23 weeks but measured to be almost 25 which is weird b/c i feel like i'm not big enough, doc said i'm at a perfect size though so I'll take it! He or she hasn't been moving much today but it was pretty active yesterday so maybe it's tired out!

Finally, an update!

This one is for you Meg since you're the only one that reads it haha. And since I just saw you yesterday, none of this is going to be news to you! For anyone else - I just began my 6 month of pregnancy. Crazy! I thought I'd start blogging again b/c I'm finding that I already have forgotten things I said I would never forget about this pregnancy. And since I'm so bad at keeping my pregnancy journal up to date, I thought I would try this method so that I can remember little details!
I've really been lucky, aside from nausea and fatigue in the beginning, i really don't have anything crazy to complain about. I feel great so far! We just finished yet another awesome summer, very relaxing and filled with fam and friends =) It was great to be able to enjoy the "honeymoon" phase of pregnancy and not have to go to work! I've been back for 3 days now and can already tell I'm going to be exhausted by the end of pre season. But it's only 6 days, then life gets back to normal schedule wise. Until then, it's work until 930 at night, then back again at 630 in the morning. sounds fun doesn't it? It's great to have the summer off but man, it sure does hit hard when we come back. There's no easing into it. It's going to be a good fall though, I'm looking forward to it...the weather has been awesome so far which is always a great start! It's good to see the returning athletes and here about their summer vacations - which I can asure you are a little more extravagant than mine will ever be - I'm ok with that though :) Most of them don't know that I'm pregnant yet since we didn't start telling people until school was over in the spring. It's funny to watch them look at me, then my stomach, and I'm sure they are wondering if I just drank too much alcohol this summer or if i really am pregnant. I'll let them sweat it out until it's obvious, or until the news gets going and spreads like wild fire (it is a high school afterall!)
I started getting acid reflux and indigestion in the last week - definitely uncomfortable. Tums are a huge help thank God. I feel like such a wuss curling up in pain on the couch just b/c of a little stomach issue but if that's the only position that helps, so be it. I've also had to stop lifting weights, which is a huge bummer b/c i already feel whatever muscle was there, diminishing by the second. But it's not worth the back pain I feel at night after I work out. I know I mentioned that I didn't have much to complain about, you're probably wondering why I said that if I was just going to complain anyway! It's just minor things, and I don't mean to complain, I just want to keep track of it for next time =)
